I made this with watercolor pencils, sharpie, and mixed media collage. I finished it with mod podge. I gave this to my Aunt as a “Get Well” present.

I set this up last night in the basement– still a work in progress, but I wanted to share.
The space is delineated by my artist table on one side and my desk on the other, and the crates of books along the backside. There is room for the cats to play too, so hopefully they don’t play with my pens and papers instead!
This is my artist table where I do my calligraphy. The plastic drawers on the right are where I keep my tools and supplies. The books on the left are for inspiration.

This is the present I gave to my Mom today. I have been working on the project for about a week. First, I glued the photo and buttons and stickers on, then I did 5 coats of Mod Podge, letting it dry between each one. After that, I used 400 Wet Sandpaper and fine grade steel wool to smooth it out. Then I did 3 coats of the Mod Podge acrylic finishing spray.

This is a belief statement I made for myself. I started with the penciled spiral, then I used watercolor pencils to fill it in. I went over this with a wet paint brush. Once that was dried, I inked my words in rollerball ink.
